Artist, architect, designer Marcello Morandini stands out as one of the major representatives of Concrete Art in Europe. The reference points of his works, architectural and artistic, are the reflections and studies of geometry, in a continuous dialogue between full and empty, between form and mathematical elements, between geometric rigor and the absence of chromatism, confined to the use of white and black, to enhance complex play of shapes.
His art takes him all over the world, including personal and collective exhibitions, major architectural and sculpture projects. Until the inauguration of the Foundation he wanted in 2016 and inaugurated in 2017 at Villa Zanotta, in Varese. The structure, converted into a museum, was born as an open, accessible and inclusive exhibition space in which his works are valued and which he still deals with today in order to make the Foundation a point of reference for this precise artistic movement in Italy and in Europe.
Mandelli1953 took the opportunity to collaborate with Marcello Morandini facing an unusual artistic path that led it to the production of the iconic MM80 handle, an expression of Concrete Art enclosed in a small piece of furniture, exhibited today in the Foundation and in the showroom in Varese. by Mandelli1953.
